Kingdom Principle: “We do not want this man to reign over us”, is the refrain of the citizens of this world. We need to be careful not to emulate it. As Christians we are called to submit our lives to the sovereignty of the great king. The world refuses his reign; we ought to embrace it as good servants.

Luke 19:38 (ESV) — 38 …“Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
Jesus demonstrates his authority to be King of the universe.
Zechariah 9:9 (ESV) — 9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
All things are not as they appear to be.
Matthew 21:8–11 (ESV) — 8 Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” 10 And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?” 11 And the crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.”

Luke 19:41 (ESV) — 41 And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it,
In AD 70, Titus, under the direction of the Emperor Vespasian, surrounded the city of Jerusalem and set up embankments on every side so that no one could escape the city. (verse 43) This caused mass starvation and infighting. It is said by Josephus that the city of Jerusalem was destroyed both from the inside, because of the civil wars between different sects, and from the outside, as Rome intended to quell the insurrectionist fully and finally. On the tenth day of Av (month of Sept) the temple is burned to the ground and completely destroyed. It is said that the Emperor Titus left the Western wall intact so that it could be seen for generations to come the strength and might of the Roman army to destroy such a fortified city as Jerusalem.
John 18:36 (ESV) — 36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.”

Luke 19:45–46 (ESV) — 45 And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold, 46 saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of robbers.”
Luke 19:47–48 (ESV) — 47 And he was teaching daily in the temple. The chief priests and the scribes and the principal men of the people were seeking to destroy him, 48 but they did not find anything they could do, for all the people were hanging on his words.
The gospel of Luke declares that the realm of Jesus’ reign, in this age, will be over those who are redeemed by his blood, restored to fellowship with God the Father, and receive and love God’s truth.
John 17:16–19 (ESV) — 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.
2 Corinthians 10:3–6 (ESV) — 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, 6 being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.
